Pecaminosa is a Police Action RPG, based on a Film Noir concept with a Pixel Art aesthetic. As John Souza – a former detective succumbed to the pleasures of alcohol and flesh – you will explore the city and its environs, as well as chase and fight ordinary thieves, smart criminals, and even some forces of… the occult.
Pecaminosa is a dark and gambling city that smells of death, sex, and gunpowder. And you know what? Once you are there, you’ll get the opportunity to experience this fictional open-ended city, all the while living through an humorous, provocative and rich story.
Cereal Games is a technology development company based out of the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and we are ‘ceriously’ proud to label our products with the “Made in Azores” stamp.
The idea of creating an RPG set in the 1940's had been on our minds for quite some time. It is an interesting historical period with great aesthetic and narrative potential. It would be something along the lines of a Luso-American detective (proud of our roots), respecting and following a bunch of film noir clichés. In theory it seemed like a good idea. But it was just that: an idea.
So, what changed? Well, between january and september 2017, we developed a serious game for a client whose mechanics were precisely that of an RPG. We then decided to capitalize on the experience gained and aim to a far more complex and ambitious game. The game went through a design brainstorming process during 2018, and was set to development in january 2019.
Pecaminosa will arrive during the second quarter of 2021. Cereal Games' pixel-art noir Action-RPG will debut on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam.
